Description[]
This invocation summons masses of biting and stinging insects. One swarm is summoned for every three class levels. A swarm has a +4 base attack bonus (with an additional to hit bonus based on the caster's Charisma x 2) and deals 2d6 points of magical damage when it hits. A swarm dissipates after three rounds. Tenacious plague does not stack with itself - if the warlock uses this invocation while swarms still exist, the current swarms will be replaced with the new swarms.
Gameplay Notes[]
- Party members in the spell area will be affected in hardcore mode. However, the swarms are assigned when the spell is cast, so entering the area after casting is safe.
- Swarms will not damage the caster if he is the only creature in the area but will if there are others (and friendly fire is allowed).
- This invocation is much better than it may look at a first glance, since many defenses are bypassed: Stoneskin, Premonition, (Greater) Invisibility, and Concealment. It bypasses most (maybe all) forms of damage reduction.
- This ability is not considered a hostile spell for the purpose of dispelling the Walk Unseen ability, but it will take the caster out of stealth mode.
- Additional bonus to hit is doubled Charisma modifier as opposed to the ability itself.
- Rolls of 1 and 20 are considered auto-miss and auto-hit respectively.
