Tasha's Hideous Laughter compels the target to laugh uncontrollably unless a successful Will saving throw is made. Affected creatures are not able to defend themselves while under the influence of this spell. A creature with a different race type than the caster gains a +4 bonus to the saving throw because the humor does not 'translate' well.
Notes[]
- The spell's description is not 100% accurate. Instead of granting the target creature a +4 bonus to its saving throw if its race is different than the caster's race, the spell's DC is actually reduced by 4. Although the outcome is the same, it can be confusing to players who pay close attention to the combat log and notice the spell's DC is lower than it ought to be.
Bugs[]
- Tasha's Hideous Laughter used to affect creatures under the effect of Protection from Good/Evil; this bug has been fixed and no longer applies.
