I notice Uncanny Dodge says that as of patch 1.23 it doesn't actual work. Does any one know if Improved Uncanny Dodge actually works? Jesse the Thief 03:28, February 14, 2011 (UTC)

As I've tested it some months ago it works. V0d01ey 18:29, February 14, 2011 (UTC)

Barbarian, Dwarven Defender and Shadowdancer do not have Sneak Attack damage, so if the citeria is Class levels with sneak attack rather than Class levels with Uncanny Dodge. Then these Classes will likely gain no benefit from Improved Uncanny Dodge, suggest the editor read the Game Manual description and test the application. Ragimund (talk) 08:49, April 10, 2019 (UTC) The description has improved but its doesn't make you immune to flank attack, it just avoids the sneak damage from it. Ragimund (talk) 23:31, November 29, 2019 (UTC)  Fixed to match your observations (it was also in the in-game description)  Odd that no one else caught this earllier.  Nice job. Raelind (talk) 23:01, November 30, 2019 (UTC) Likely because players, consider in the game descriptions to be rules and the wiki helps perpetuate the misinformation. So now the description gets worse again, suggest change Secifics to "In Game interpretation" because it isn't Specific. Why would the designers implement an ability similar to Pathfinder, like Precise Strike and then not write the description to match? or tell us trap detection is 5ft. Intentional or just some editor with no idea about the game? Ragimund (talk) 01:50, December 1, 2019 (UTC) An expert player mentioned he thought flank attack was just being behind their target. So need to add what flanking is to the description.

limited testing, proposed description

Improved Uncanny Dodge

Type of Feat: Class

Prerequisite: Rogue level 8, assassin level 5, dwarven defender 6, shadow thief level 5 or shadowdancer level 5

Specifics: A character with this feat cannot be the victim of sneak attack when being flanked unless the flanking attacker has at least four or more levels than you in the class or classes that provide the uncanny dodge ability.

Use: Automatic.

Note: Even if this ability avoids the sneak attack, the attacker will still recieve the +2 flanking bonus to AB. Sneak attack applies when a rogue catches an opponent unable to defend himself effectively from her attack, she can then strike a vital spot for extra damage. ie, sneak attack is a damage type.

Gameplay: When against mutiple opponents and you are actively fighting a target; any attacker (regardless of direction and range) other than your primary target may have the opportunity for flanking bonuses and sneak attack.

D&D Note: Unlike 3.5, Uncanny Dodge is not upgraded to Improved Uncanny Dodge, if a character with the feat gains it again from another class.
