AB Enhancement Cap[]

Would like to have information about maximum AB enhancements in the article. Specifically, what things count towards the +20 AB cap? Do Weapon Focus/Greater WF/Epic WF, Prowess, other feat-based bonuses count? I think all spells except Divine Power and Legionnaire's March count toward the cap, but are their others I'm missing? What about Tenser's Transformation; does it give you +AB or just change your BAB to high progression? --Cornishgamehen 16:28, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

Re: AB Enhancement Cap[]

The short answer is that anything that uses a script counts towards the +20 cap, anything that is hard-coded does not count towards the cap.

Things that don't count towards the cap:

  • Ability modifiers (STR or DEX with Weapon Finesse for melee attacks, DEX or WIS with Zen Archery for ranged attacks)
  • (Greater/Epic/Superior) Weapon Focus
  • Epic Prowess
  • Bane of Enemies
  • Small Stature
  • Charisma bonus added during smites
  • Circumstantial bonuses (+2 to hit from flanking, +4 against prone targets)
  • Stormlord weapon enhancement bonus
  • Arcane Archer enhance arrows bonus

Things that do count towards the cap:

  • Attack bonuses on weapons
  • Enhancement bonuses on weapons
  • True Strike
  • Reduce Person (It's actually a fair buff if you have a cleric death ward the party before casting it.)
  • Snake's Swiftness
  • Haste
  • (Greater) Heroism
  • Tenser's Transformation
  • War Cry
  • Courage Inspiration
  • Divine Favor
  • Bless
  • Aid
  • Prayer
  • Recitation
  • Battletide
  • (Greater) Magic Weapon
  • Magic Weapon
  • Awaken
  • Nature's Avatar
  • Divine Wrath
  • Fury Domain Ability

That leaves Divine Power and Legionnaire's March which increase your BAB and don't count towards the stack.

That should be an exhaustive list of ways to increase your AB but I might have missed something. Mithdradates 18:33, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

Halfling +1 throwing bonus is not subject to the cap - is it? Also, I haven't tested it but the +2 to AB from Eldritch Master is likely not to be subject given it's a feat. Maybe someone with a warlock and a truestrike scroll handy can confirm...?GT74 18:35, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

Miscellaneous modifiers[]

Need to be included. Testing showed they are mostly the same as in NWN1. Also, there is a -20 AB cap that is separate from the +20 AB cap. So if you have effects giving you a total +22AB, and another with -2AB, you will have +18 AB, and not +20. GFallen (talk) 15:19, December 23, 2012 (UTC)
