Description[edit | edit source]

You can use greater invisibility, as the spell, but only on yourself. The effect lasts for three rounds. If your retributive invisibility is dispelled, a shock wave releases from your body in a 20-foot-radius burst. This shock wave deals 4d6 points of sonic damage to all creatures in the area and stuns them for 1 round (a Fortitude save halves the damage and negates the stunning effect).

Notes[edit | edit source]

This spell functions differently from any other invisibility spell in the game. All other spells, whether implemented as spells or feats (Assassin greater invisibility etc.) are actually a combination of standard invisibility and concealment. Normally with greater invisibility, if the caster performs a hostile action the invisibility is removed, but concealment remains. Retributive Invisibility, however, preserves both the concealment effect and the invisibility effect, which means enemies without True Seeing/See Invisibility won't be able to see the caster even after he performs a hostile action. The only other way to achieve this is by blinding an enemy, which will prevent them from perceiving you as well. This unique attribute is offset by the spell's very limited duration.
