There are many races; each with their own strengths and weaknesses relative to others. Each race is different in its way of life, religion(s), cultural and physical aspects. Additionally, many races have distinct sub-races with their own unique characteristics.

All playable races are medium-sized, except for Gnomes and Halflings, which are small.
* Any as a favored class indicates that this race's favored class is the highest base class that is in use on the character at the time. Prestige classes are never used in the calculation, only base classes. The highest base class is thus always ignored regardless of which class is highest at the moment. Thus, the favored class is subject to change at any point in the character's history.
NWN comparison[]
- Though NWN did include the option to specify a subrace for a character, the only effect was to replace the normal race's name on the character sheet. There was no other built-in functionality.
