Mordenkainen's Sword is technically an invisible male human, armed with enchanted sword. He has all the construct immunities but no Low-Light or Darkvision.
This sword is a useful summonable "construct" for its immunities alone, which render it immune to some impressive things (mind altering spells, death spells among them). Universal damage reduction, spell resistance and incorporeality help in making it quite tanky as well.
Offensively it is weaker than the equivalent summon creature spell, through it comes with a magic sword from the outset. It of course can also be buffed too (quite well, even considering its low duration). It is the most useful for an alternative to the Conjuration school's summon creature range of spells since it is Transmutation.
A small note is that it is odd that the Summon Creature range of spells was given a duration of caster Level + 3 (down from 24 hours) yet this retains its 1/round level (which when spawned means it loses a round standing still).
Notes (NWN1)[]
The creature no longer gets Knockdown, and now has a Longsword +3 instead of a Greatsword, although it has other alterations to make up for some of these things. It still lasts 1 round / level (see gameplay notes).
