Three times per day, a 2nd-level archer may choose to fire a special arrow imbued with the fireball spell. When the arrow hits its target, the fireball spell detonates from that point, inflicting damage as per the spell as though it were cast by a wizard of the arcane archer's class level.

Gameplay Notes[]

  • Contrary to the description, fireball always deals 10d6 damage due to caster level being set at 10. It's DC is dexterity based and is calculated as of a spell. Unfortunately, Imbue Arrow has incorrect innate level of 1 (instead of 3), so in practice it's DC is 11 + Arcane Archer's dexterity modifier.
  • This ability can't be used without a shortbow or a longbow equipped.
  • If the ability is centered on a creature, imbued arrow will attempt to physically hit it in addition to creating the fireball. This is a ranged touch attack that does not require to actually have an arrow equipped and won't use any. Fireball will still happen if the arrow miss. If it hits the target, it deals piercing damage equal to the base damage of your bow (1d6 for shortbow / 1d8 for longbow) + Enhance arrow bonus + Weapon Specialization bonus (Greater/Epic including) if you have one. If your bow has "Mighty" trait, your full strengh modifier will also be applied (exact rank of "Mighty" is not important). Total damage is tripled on critical hit.
