Description[]

This spell forms a living glass creation that is an exact copy of the target with the following exceptions: The creature is made out of glass, and thus more brittle, being summoned in at 1/4 of the current hit points of the target. The summoned creature has 15 resistance to fire, cold, electricity, acid, bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage types. The summoned creature has vulnerability 50% to sonic damage. The glass copy is allied with the caster, but not under direct control, acting as a summoned animal or a henchman. Creatures copied must have the same or fewer hit dice than the caster has caster levels and no more than 15 HD. Copied creatures have no memorized spells.

Gameplay Notes[]

  • The Glass Doppelganger occupies a summoned creature slot. Meaning that if you already have a Summon Monster (I-IX) creature out, creating a Glass Doppelganger will unsummon your previously summoned creature. Despite that, it is not affected by Augment Summoning.
  • You cannot cast this on a party member or yourself.
  • Since Glass Doppelganger is a Touch spell, it is possible to cast from a familiar. Familiars are seemingly seen as a separate casting entity, thus allowing the caster to summon TWO Doppelgangers of a creature. Caster level checks still apply; the actual familiar level is of no relevance.
  • One can examine a Doppelganger, and thereby see all the duplicated creature's exact statistics, including class levels, saving throws, feats, status effects from equipment, etc. One cannot see their inventory, however.
