Druid can summon a small blue dragon or bronze dragon as a companion.
- Use
- Selected
Gameplay Notes[]
- The statistics for the Dragon Companion are pretty good but not in overwhelming way one may expect. Little dragon also has powerful breath attacks and usual dragon traits.
- Blue and Bronze dragons are Lawful Evil and Lawful Good respectively. The summoner can chose any, regadless of own alignment i.e. Neutral Good druid can still take the blue dragon.
- Statistically Bronze dragon is strictly better tha Blue, having better mental stats and Will saving throw. Difference is pretty small through.
- This feat has propably the highest total requirements in the game: Wild Shape 8x/day, 29 Wisdom and two prerequisite epic feats. To satisfy those a character must have atleast 26 levels of druid, maxed Wisdom and either: be Swirfneblin/Aasimar/Gray Orc with Great Wisdom +3 and character level 28, be Swirfneblin/Aasimar/Gray Orc with Great Wisdom +2 and character level 29, or, for other races, have Great Wisdom +4 and character level 29. Needing 5-7 epic feats in total and being available near the epic level cap, Dragon Companion is essentially set as the ultimate (near-)pure druid achievement.
- This feat by itself just does not worth the sky-high requirements. Better to see it as an addition to the Dragon Shape one can take for roleplay reasons.
Bug Notes[]
- This feat won't do anything if taken on level of a class that doesn't provide/progress animal companion. For example, if Druid 28/Monk 1 takes the feat at his monk level, his companion will remain the same as before, wasting a feat and forever losing the chance to obtain a little dragon. It is possible that the feat itself is intended to work this way and it being selectable on for other classes is the actual bug.
- Due to a patching oversight Dragon Companion can't be buffed with Nature's Avatar, significantly limiting it's potential.
