- Specifics
You can summon a deinonychus to serve as faithful companion.
- Use
- Automatic.
Gameplay Notes[]
- The statistics for the Dinosaur Companion (whether obtained by a Druid, Ranger, or by Cleric who selected the Animal domain) are significantly better than a standard Animal companion. This is balanced by requiring the character to spend an extra feat to obtain it.
- Unlike other pets, Deinonychus is really bad at stealth.
- The Dinosaur Companion is summoned at a level category higher than the default Animal Companions, starting as HD 3 Beast at summoner level 1.
Bug Notes[]
- This feat won't do anything if taken on level of a class that doesn't provide/progress animal companion. For example, if Druid(5)/Stormlord(1) chooses the Dinosaur Companion feat at the Stormlord level, his companion will remain the same as before, wasting a feat and forever losing the chance to obtain a deynonychus. A Druid(5)/Ranger(1) selecting this feat will correctly get a Dinosaur even though a single-class Ranger doesn't get an animal companion until level 4.
