|Type: Crossbow, heavy||Weight: 8 pound(s)|
|Dmg Type: Piercing||Size: Medium|
|Critical: 19-20/x2||Damage: 1d10|
|Feats: Simple, Monk, Rogue or Wizard|
The heavy crossbow is the largest hand-held launcher of its type, and is favored by militia groups for its durability and ease of use. It is deadlier than its smaller cousin, but also more cumbersome.
The crossbow is made from 2 wooden planks. Other usable wooden materials can be used for the following effects:
- Zalantar: Attack bonus +1
- Shederran: Attack bonus +2
- Duskwood: Attack bonus +3 & 40% weight reduction
Note: Crossbow damage is not modified by its wielder's strength, so characters even with less than 10 strength will not incur a damage penalty.
Although referred to as heavy, this crossbow is only medium in size. So small characters are still able to wield but even medium sized characters must keep their off-hand free for reloading. Crossbows will normally only fire one bolt per round, however with Rapid Reload feat this allows a second bolt and with the addition of Rapid Shot; a third, final bolt per round.
NWN2 Tip: Recommended for low level characters avoiding Strength penalties on their damage.
