Description[]
The target animal companion gains +4 Strength, +4 Constitution, +1d10 Wisdom, and +2 to attack rolls for as long as it remains at your side.
Bug Notes[]
- NW_S0_Awaken.nss.
- The spell description states "The target animal companion" - it should be more clear, the script has it set to only the casters animal companion, not any others (eg; you cannot cast this your mate's animal companion, or cast this using UMD onto your parties druid's companion), so the line should perhaps be "The caster's animal companion targeted with this spell" (or something which is a bit better English ;) ). The last part of the description ("for as long as it remains at your side.") implies it is only the casters that can be affected too.
- This doesn't make use of the much better NWN2 ApplyMetamagicVariableMods() function for metamagic empower/maximise. Note that the duration part isn't needed (the duration for the effect is permanent).
- There is no feedback for casting it on incorrect targets, or if the spell is already applied.
- Empower Spell only increases the wisdom bonus to 1d15, nothing else. This is useless as casting Owl's Insight at caster level 24-30 ensures the maximum +12 wisdom bonus attainable.
Gameplay Notes[]
Although you can target other things, you must target your Animal Companion (not another Druids!) else the spell simply does nothing. If they already have the spells effects, it does nothing. The effects are Permanent until the Animal Companion disappears, and it cannot be dispelled.
The wisdom bonus is variable, but not greatly worth increasing compared to casting a good will-save-boosting spell - since as animal companions do not cast spells, the main bonus from the wisdom is increased will saves.
This is generally a good spell to cast if your animal companion is competent in combat, and saves the use of similar spells such as Bear's Endurance and Bull's Strength.
