This spell enables you to divine the exact nature and vulnerabilities of a single creature's magical defenses, giving you a +10 bonus on caster level checks to overcome its spell resistance. The bonus only affects the caster and cannot be cast more than once on the target.

Gameplay Notes[]

This is a spell generally saved for special SR creatures, not groups. Dragons, Daemons and Devils all much more easily fall prey to the caster's additional SR-based spells under its effects.

There is the problem of it not affecting spells cast by other casters, and it cannot affect groups. As opposed to Mordenkainen's Disjunction, this spell does NOT decrease the target's SR, rather it increases the caster's spell penetration by 10 (but only against the spell target). If more than one spellcaster is involved, EACH spellcaster must cast their own Assay Resistance on the target. If you re-cast this spell on another target, your spell penetration bonus against the previous target is lost. This spell does not stack with itself, if you re-cast it on the same target, the duration will be renewed, but spell penetration will NOT increase by another 10.

This spell cannot be put on a wand.

Modding notes[]

This spell uses EffectAssayResistance() which has no inputs, meaning this spell can only ever be a +10 bonus, nothing more and nothing less.
